There are few cars today that we’d describe as beautiful. Perfect proportions. Not a bad angle to be found. It’s hard to find one, but we did, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Launched for the 2006 model year, the V8 Vantage (as well as its insane sibling, the V12 Vantage S) won’t be around for much longer. More than a decade on the market is an eternity for cars these days. But the V8 Vantage still looks as beautiful as ever, and we’re sure as hell going to miss it when it’s gone in the very near future
Fortunately, we recently had the chance to check out the 2016 V8 Vantage GT. Our knees are still wobbly from the experience. Powered by a naturally aspirated 4.7-liter V8 with 430 hp and 361 lb-ft torque, the V8 Vantage isn’t the most powerful or fastest in its segment. But honestly, it doesn’t have to be.
That sound coming from the sport exhaust. The bark of the engine when you press the ignition button. The gentle rumble it makes at idle. Everything comes together so very nicely. Our tester also came with several thousand dollars of extras, for a grand total price of $120,265. Expensive? For sure, but it’s oh so worth that second mortgage. The V8 Vantage may not be perfect, like any proper supercar (or old school analog supercar). But those imperfections give it character and a proper place in history. Special thanks to Los Gatos Luxury Cars for letting us film the car.
