This morning, Volkswagen announced an immediate recall on every electric car they have sold in America.
The recall affects the e-Golf, and consumers are warned to bring them into their dealerships as soon as possible – because the problem can be extremely dangerous.
Volkswagen said the software that controls the car’s battery can suffer a glitch that causes it to shut down suddenly. So having the engine suddenly stop working in the middle of traffic could lead to an accident.
There have been no injuries or deaths reported related to the problem yet, the company said. All consumers have to do is take the car to the dealership, where a software update will be installed. This will be free of charge and only take a matter of minutes, the company said.
Vehicle History will add the cars to our database as soon as we receive the VIN numbers from Volkswagen.
